Types of solid waste concerned including urban and rural domestic waste, construction and demolition debris, municipal sludge, general industrial solid waste, electronic waste, hazardous waste and agricultural waste, which expected to provide the latest research results for relevant scientific researchers, engineers and managers.
The main columns including solid waste source characteristics and collection system; solid waste separation and resource utilization; biological treatment and high-value utilization of organic solid waste; thermochemical treatment and flue gas pollution control; treatment, disposal and utilization of hazardous waste; utilization, treatment and disposal of construction and demolition debris; secondary pollution control of solid waste treatment process; rural environmental sanitation governance and toilet revolution; landfills in urban and rural areas, and secondary pollution control; management and assessment framework of environmental sanitation.
Ⅱ. Requirements and notes for submission
1. General requirements
Environmental Sanitation Engineering accepts 7 types of articles, including research papers, reviews, opinion papers, short newsletters, paper reviews, editorials and long abstracts. Research papers should be less than 10000 words, which including original research results and project case analysis with important industrial impact. Review papers should be less than 20000 words with critical viewpoints and development direction of sanitation industry or research field, while the authors are required to submit research resumes. Opinion papers are required to be same as review papers, but with relatively few words and no research resume required. The short newsletter should be less than 4000 words and should have the same content and requirements as the research paper, only reduced in length. Reviews and editorials should be less than 2000 words, and editorials can only be submitted by the editorial board invitation. In addition, long abstract should be highly innovative and timeliness, with the words no more than 1000. Meanwhile, the line number should be marked in the paper.
2. Submission letter
A submission letter must be submitted when you contribute the paper, which should include the following aspects: (1)Explain the research significance of the paper and illustrate the relationship between the paper and the journal; (2) Summarize the paper’s research purpose and the innovation points compared with the published paper (the summary of the content must be provided for the review papers); (3) Provide the number of words in the paper. If the submission letter does not meet the requirements, the submitted paper will not be considered for paper review.
3. The full text of the submitted paper
The paper should be divided into sections, numbered by 1, 2...,generally including 1 Introduction, 2 Materials and methods, 3 Results and discussion, 4 Conclusions; The sub-sections should be numbered 1.1 (sub-numbers 1.1.1, 1.1.2...), 1.2, etc. (the abstract is not included in the number of each section) and the title number generally does not exceed 3 levels. Each section shall be given a title, and each title should be on a separate line.
4. Introduction
The background and purpose of the research should be clearly and objectively described. When describing the research background, the importance of research significance should be highlighted directly, while general popular science knowledge should not be elaborated. When reviewing the contents of published papers, attention should be paid to highlighting their relevance to the research purposes of this paper. Meanwhile, in the last part of the introduction, the research purpose should be clearly stated. If the author needs a long literature review, it should be listed in a separate section after the introduction.
5. Materials and methods
Detailed experimental details should be provided for other researchers to refer. For quoting published experimental methods, the experimental process should be described briefly and the references should be marked. If the published experimental methods are quoted directly, it should be highlighted with quotation marks and the references should be marked too; In addition, improvements to published experimental methods should also be described.
Quantities, units and symbols should be implemented in Quantity and Units (GB 3100~3102—1993) strictly, and non-legal units of measurement should not be used. English abbreviations such as ppb and ppm cannot be used as unit symbols. When non-legal units of measurement appear in the data cited in the literature, the relation formula converted into legal units of measurement should be added. For example, the dry-base low calorific value of domestic waste is 790 kcal/kg (1 kcal= 4.186 kJ). A space must be placed between the number and the unit.
6. Results and discussion
The experimental phenomena and results should be described clearly and succinctly in the form of words, figures and tables. However, care should be taken to avoid duplication of information among words, figures as well as tables. Results and discussion sections can also be written separately. However, care should be taken to avoid repeating experimental results in the discussion section.
Figures and tables should be self-explanatory, with sequential coding and English-Chinese comparison titles of diagram and table. The table should be a three-line form. The end line of the coordinate figures should be on the scale line as much as possible. Horizontal and vertical coordinates must be vertical, the degree of density of the coordinate scale line should be similar, the scale line towards the figures. The scale number should be integral as much as possible, if it is too large or too small, it can be represented by an index, such as 102, 10-2.
It is recommended to use Excel or Origin software to draw illustrations in the manuscript, and insert editable original drawings (vector drawings) into the manuscript.
CAD screenshots and on-site photos must indicate the source of the pictures; In addition to indicating the source, relevant authorization materials must also be provided when using the charts in the research report and drawings.
7. Conclusion
The main conclusions of the study can be described separately in the "Conclusions" section, or as a subsection of the "Discussions" or "Results and Discussions" section. It is noted that the conclusion should not be a restatement of the experimental results, but a concise summary of the key findings of the study; while it cannot be simply repeated the summary and introduction either.
8. Abstract
It should be no less than 500 words to describe the research purpose, main research results and conclusions. When presenting research results, specific quantitative results should be provided as much as possible, while qualitative descriptions should be reduced. In addition, the abstract must exist independently as a separate section. Therefore, references, non-standard or uncommon abbreviations should be avoided. However, if there are unavoidable abbreviations, they must be defined as soon as the abstract is first mentioned.
9. Highlights of the paper (optional)
It should be composed of 3 to 5 short sentences, including the new findings in the author's research results and the new methods adopted in the research. Authors are encouraged to provide highlights of their papers, which will help increase the likelihood of being retrieved by other researchers after publication.
10. Graphic summary (optional)
The content of the article should be summarized in a concise graphical expression to attract the attention of readers.. Picture size is 531 × 1328 pixels (long × Wide), using a regular resolution of 96 dpi. The file type is TIFF, EPS, PDF, or MS Office.
11. Acknowledgement (optional)
The acknowledgement should be placed at the end of the paper and before the references, which should be a separate section. The persons who provide assistance in the research process (e.g., language polishing, analytical testing, on-site sampling, etc.), or grants from relevant authors, funds, and projects should be listed.
12. Format of funding sources
Project funding: Project name (project number), e.g.
Project funding: National Natural Science Foundation of China (51878471)
Project funding: National Key Research and Development Program (2018YFD1100600) or related topics
13. References
It is should be comply meet the requirements of Information and Documentation:Rules for Bibliographic References and Citations to Information Resources(GB/T 7714--2015). References are sequentially coded and sorted according to the citations in the text. They should be marked with [ ] at the upper right corner of the citations. English references should be listed after Chinese references. References should be authoritative, timely and relevant to avoid the occurrence of secondary citations. The quantity of references is not less than 30 generally, and the number of review articles is not less than 70.
