Abstract:

With the growth of global population and the rapid development of agricultural production, the amount of agricultural waste is increasing year by year. In order to study the effects of the addition of meat and bone meal and weathered coal on the composting of tail vegetable and straw, T1 (cabbage tail vegetable + corn straw ), T2 (cabbage tail vegetable + corn straw + meat and bone meal) and T3 (cabbage tail vegetable + corn straw + meat and bone meal + weathered coal) were set for composting experiments, and temperature, moisture, pH and C/N were determined and analyzed during the composting process. The results showed that adding meat and bone meal + weathered coal treatment could increase the fermentation temperature in the middle and late period of compost, keep the high temperature period longer, and increase the maximum fermentation temperature. At the end of composting, the organic carbon content of all treatments decreased by about 30%, and the residual organic matter content of T3 treatment was the highest. Total nitrogen content increased by 0.93%, 0.98% and 1.05%, respectively, T3 treatment had the highest total nitrogen content. Total potassium content increased by 2.22%, 2.36% and 2.62%, and T3 treatment had the highest total potassium content. Total phosphorus content increased by 0.31%, 0.35% and 0.43%, and T3 treatment had the highest total phosphorus content. Due to the high proportion of basic raw materials (cabbage tail, corn straw) treated by T1, T2 and T3 and the similar nutrient content, only a small amount of conditioning agents (meat and bone meal, weathered coal) were used to adjust the formula, resulting in a small difference in nutrient increment. The seed germination index (GI) reached 91.97%, 99.08% and 125.73%, respectively, the GI value of T3 treatment was the highest. It can be seen that adding meat and bone meal + weathered coal can accelerate the compost maturation, increase the accumulation of nitrogen, potassium and phosphorus, and improve the quality of compost.
