Emergency Disposal Study of Medical Waste in Henan Province During COVID-19

Abstract: Based on the data of medical waste production and disposal during the COVID-19 in Henan province from January 2020 to December 2022. The characteristics of medical waste production sources, main components, production quantity, as well as disposal capacity and disposal facilities during the epidemic were analyzed. And the suggestions were put forward to solve the prominent problems of medical waste emergency disposal. The results showed that 46.60% of the medical waste was domestic waste generated from patients and isolation observation personnel in 2022; Centralized disposal facilities were the main means of medical waste disposal. Municipal solid waste incineration facilities played a crucial role in the emergency disposal process of medical waste.
